Instructions Of Making Portuguese Egg Tart

  1. Prepare the Custard Mixture
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the egg yolks, whole egg, full cream milk, whipping cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla essence.
    • Use a balloon whisk to stir the ingredients until well combined.
  2. Strain the Mixture
    • Pour the mixture through a fine sieve to remove any lumps.
    • Set aside and refrigerate for later use.
  3. Prepare the Puff Pastry
    • Roll the puff pastry into a log shape, then cut it into 1-inch (approximately 2 cm) pieces.
    • Flatten each piece with a rolling pin and place them into the aluminium foil cups, shaping them to fit.
    • Place the prepared cups in the freezer for 10 minutes.
  4. Fill the Pastry Cups
    • Remove the cups from the freezer and, if desired, add ½ teaspoon of Nutella to the center of each pastry cup.
    • Pour the chilled custard mixture into the cups, filling them just below the rim.
  5. Bake the Tarts
    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
    • Bake the tarts for 30-40 minutes or until the tops develop a caramelized golden-brown color.
    • Remove from the oven and allow them to cool before serving.
